‘Little Play’ & ‘Out of School Kids’ support the Parenting Project, enabling parents to access the parenting support through a variety of initiatives:
‘Little Play’
‘Little Play’ is a free crèche service which provides care, fun, structured play
and various learning activities for the pre-schoolers of the lone parent families
who access the service of CLASP through the weekly drop in sessions.
‘Little Play’ is managed by trained workers, and the various activities the children undertake include reading, story time, arts, crafts, music, dance, drama and games. Staff co-ordinate a curriculum to ensure that children not only enjoy the sessions but that they learn basic skills and social skills in preparation for school.
Parents are encouraged to support their children’s development through various parenting sessions and also through accessing the children’s library in the crèche, and choose books to read at home together.
During school holidays, activities and outing are provided where the pre-schoolers can be joined by older siblings, to experience learning and fun together.
‘Out of School Kids'
Primary school age siblings of the Little Play children are welcome to join in the drop in sessions, events and activities during school holidays.
They can access craft sessions, games, team building activities and outings with their family. Parents/carers are welcome to bring their school children with them on a Thursday morning.
‘Buzzin’
Buzzin is a Drop In for young people aged between 12-18 living with one parent / carer.
At Buzzin there is opportunity to chill and chat, enjoy refreshments, have a game of pool, play board and card games, and take part in discussion sessions on topics which affect young people today. These often include coming to terms with just living with Mum or Dad, living in a step family situation, and coping with anger or bullying.
‘’You tell us what you want, and we'll try to organise it for you’’. The young people even went Paintballing recently!!!
Drop in any Thursdays between finishing school and 5.30pm. Buzzin is open during the school holidays too. We meet at the the Ludford Family Centre, Ludford St, Crewe.
Information about ‘Buzzin’ for Parents/carers:
All the staff involved with facilitating the Buzzin sessions are directly linked with South Cheshire CLASP. The staff and volunteers adhere strictly to the policies and procedures of South Cheshire CLASP. All facilitators are fully CRB checked to work with your children.
Buzzin was formed as a group in September 2006 to open real doors as a drop in to support young people who are all sharing very real issues around living in a single parent family for whatever reason. It is both valuable and beneficial for young people to have a safe and confidential place/person outside of their immediate family.
If you do have any questions or need further information please do not hesitate to get in touch with us and we will be happy to talk to you about it.
‘YMCA Outreach’
Support for teen and young parents, parents to be and young people struggling to come to terms with how they were parented. See our ‘Walking Tall’ Project.
